Winter Skin Care Tips
Dry Skin in the winter happens to the face too
Exfoliation is not just for your girlfriend. It has its advantages, especially during the colder months.
- Removes grime - Whether dirt accumulates from a day's work or from a session at the gym, your skin needs an upgraded skin-cleaning routine. Enter face scrub. It unclogs your pores, and removes dirt and grime.
- Repairs skin - Skin regenerates naturally every 30 days, but the process slows down as we get a bit older. Exfoliation rejuvenates your skin cells and helps brighten and even out your complexion.
- Exfoliating before shaving has a lot of benefits. It unclogs pores so your razor can glide smoothly across your face and it helps to get rid of ingrown hairs, hair bumps.
- Reduces Acne and Skin imperfections - Exfoliation helps prevent the build-up of sebum and oily skin, thereby helping to prevent spots and blemishes.
- WARNING - DO NOT OVER EXFOLIATE - One needs to understand that exfoliation is a deep-cleaning process and should not be done everyday. Over exfoliation will strip away the face's natural, beneficial oils, which can over-dry the skin and cause the skin to overcompensate and produce much more oil, leading to blotchiness, acne and an overall dull complexion. Exfoliate no more than 3 times per week.
- Additional benefits - Reduces sun damage and fine lines; Improves skin tone and texture; improves penetration of moisturizers and other skin care treatments.
Moisturize your lips fellas
- There are few things more aggravating than a guy with dry, chapped, cracked lips, especially when preventing it is so easy and inexpensive. I suggest a lip balm with a natural butter like Shea and an SPF of 15 or higher.
Winter is brutal to your face - Moisturize
- Take care of that moneymaker of yours. There's nothing unmanly about making sure your mug is clear and healthy looking. A great face lotion or moisturizer is key for those long, cold winter months. Yes, men should moisturize. No, it doesn't make you any less of a man. Aim to moisturize once or twice daily, right after you wash your face

3 tips that have proven to be effective in dealing with dry skin during the winter:
- Take warm showers, NOT hot showers - Hot showers should be avoided at all costs during the cold, brutal winter months. Hot water strips the skin of natural, beneficial oils that keep the skin moisturized and healthy looking.
- Use a humidifier - Because we spend most of our time outside of the bathroom than in (or so I hope!), this tip is a skin saver. Buy one or two humidifiers. Place one in your bedroom and one in an area of your home where you spend most of your time. A humidifier is a great tool in your arsenal for fighting dry, ashy looking skin in the winter.
- Drink more water - Your goal should be to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Up to 60% of our body weight is made up of water. It is a vital and necessary component to a healthy body and great skin. Tips for those that are not fans of drinking water: for a little flavor, try infusing your water with fruits, vegetables, or herbs.
Dry, rough hands and feet in the winter
Fellas trust me, dry, rough hands and feet will leave you by yourself during cuffing season.
- Exfoliating daily, with a foot scrub for just 30 seconds will reduce calluses, remove built-up dead skin on the feet and help improve circulation to the legs.
- Lube up those hands. Dry, cracked hands are wack.
